My Experiences with Spirit/Mortal Communication

It has been suggested that I attempt to write about my experiences with spirit/mortal communication, but I have no idea where to start. I know young children are particularly sensitive to thoughts from their guardian spirits. Every living person is a medium; we attract spirit companions according to our own thoughts, desires and intentions.
The allegory of having an angel on one’s shoulder and “the devil” on the other isn’t far from the truth; it does devolve upon us, each and every individual soul, to choose which pathway we wish to follow. (The angels tell us that even though there isn’t one single entity called “The Devil”, there are many evil spirits who are more wicked than any imaginary devil.)
There are souls who have chosen a righteous pathway even though they don’t believe in a Creator Soul. All God’s children are governed by the same natural laws; it doesn’t require an acknowledgement of this reality to be under the purview of spiritual governing laws.
When I was in high school I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that we were not created to suffer or to be unhappy and miserable. But this knowledge didn’t prevent me from making wrong choices. One of the natural governing laws is: “the sins of the parents are visited upon the children even unto the third and fourth generations.” Many of our choices are influenced by our make-up, expectations, programming, if you will, plus we often “inherit” the same spirit companions who have been accompanying our parents and grandparents and so on and on.
I was in a not harmonious marriage for 17 years or so (violence, alcoholism, etc.) I started seeking more sincerely for truthful answers, how to find peace, harmony, and love. I must have attracted a Celestial angel guardian; I later learned that Andrew the Apostle was one of my wonderful companions. They work with us as best they can, guiding us around our blocks, imperfections and negativities, searching for positive and loving responses in us to bring out our best and help us reach up. In my case, even though I’m a slow reader, it was true stories about people’s spiritual experiences, most of which involved spirit/mortal communications of some sort, which I responded to with interest and excitement. By 1970, I was introduced to the messages from the angels through James E. Padgett, I was familiar with the fact that mortals are receiving input from spirits all the time!
In the 1960’s I was involved with Little League Baseball and Girl Scouts, having had boy and girl twins born in 1953 and another boy in 1955. A wonderful person volunteered to help me manage the Little League snack bar (my children’s father volunteered me; he was a coach). Sometime later, this dear woman (I’ll call her Kate), became ill with an uncommon condition, for which treatment was unknown, and she passed away.
One night, when I was in bed, I felt Kate’s presence. I sensed that she was happy to be able to communicate with me. She conveyed the feeling that it was a relief to her and her dear husband when she went into the spirit world because they were at a loss to be able to help her get well. I actually felt the pressure on the bed where Kate was sitting; perhaps the spirits are able to do this, through some power of their mind, to help convince us that they’re really there. I’m sure that the weight of their spirit body (a few grams) would not make a dent in the covers.
Around 1969, after having a disappointing review at work (I was recommended for a 10¢/hour raise, to almost $2.00/hr.), I was getting ready to go to a spiritual healing circle and was thinking, “Now that I’ve been there for 2 years, I won’t have another review for a whole year.” Then I heard a voice say, “You won’t be there a year from now anyway,” which turned out to be true.
I was startled. I believe that I looked around to see who said that, but it was only a voice in my head. One of the determining factors I’ve noticed in discerning my spirit helper’s thoughts is that they speak to me in the second person. For example, one time while working on a construction project, I was thinking, “that piece of board isn’t big enough for my shelf.” Then, the next thought I had was, “Why don’t you measure it and see?” I concluded afterwards that it wasn’t my thought, or I would have said to myself, “Why don’t I measure it and see?”
So, I had started becoming aware of the fact that I not only had spirit guardians or helpers, but that if I was quiet and listened carefully, peacefully and prayerfully, I would be able to discern their thoughts from my own. The angels guide us to pray for protection from negative spirit influence; if they come back, it’s because we invite them. We attract spirit companions according to what we focus on, according to our direction in life. Like attracts like. If we are loving, prayerful, want to know the truth and help others, we will attract spirit friends who have similar interests and desires to help us.
If we want to progress and evolve spiritually, we need to make positive, loving choices, we need to strive to overcome our negativities, remember to turn the other cheek, again and again, to be tolerant, patient, kind, and understanding, at all times, to the greatest of our ability. These thoughts, desires, prayers, patterns of behavior will bring good and loving spirit companions to our aid. This is the natural pathway of spiritual development; renouncing sin, doing good deeds, staying on the straight and narrow. But there is a higher pathway which we have been blessed to learn about from the spirit/mortal communication of Celestial Spirits. They teach about prayer to God for the Grace of Divine Love, which, in time, will transform our souls from natural to divine, from human into angel, from the image of God’s Soul into the very Substance of His Soul, from mortal to immortal.
In 1972, when a group of eight followers of these messages traveled from Santa Cruz, California to Washington, D.C., with the intention of supporting the president of the Foundation Church of the New Birth, we were disillusioned to realize he wasn’t interested in having our help. He sent us to Columbia, Maryland, a modern, planned city between Washington and Baltimore.
One day, late in that same year, one of our young women pioneers, who had made the journey from west to east, surprised us when she announced that she had received an automatic writing from one of her Celestial guardians. It was so exciting, I felt inspired to try it myself to see if I, too, would be able to channel an angel’s thoughts in writing. I felt blessed to be able to write their thoughts. They assist with their energy to move our hand, also, as we are writing down their thoughts.
The angels have to lower their vibration a great deal in order to communicate with mortals. In my experience of receiving a writing, all the words are joined together and no punctuation is done until afterwards, in order to write as fast as possible. Mediums are limited in what they can receive, depending upon the condition of their soul. The Laws of Rapport and Communication explain that subjects which the medium is familiar with can be expounded upon extensively, but it’s more difficult to deliver information on subjects with which the medium has little or no acquaintance. But, in order to convey information on spiritual laws and truths, the medium needs to be more highly developed in his or her soul nature of love, which can be accomplished through sincere and prolonged prayers for God’s Grace, Divine Love.
For two and half years, almost without exception, I received a written message at noon from either James E. Padgett or Andrew the Apostle. They were working with me to help develop my mediumship abilities. I had the problem of sometimes coming to a screeching halt and unable to receive any more thoughts. I must have done something to interfere with the rapport the angel had with me. I probably “plopped” back into my material mind, maybe as a result of fear or worry. I would often be concerned that I wasn’t receiving their thoughts clearly or accurately.
Once I had the prideful thought, “I think I’ll receive a formal message now.” But, Mr. Padgett, in his calm, matter-of-fact way, wrote, “We are the ones who will determine when you are ready to receive a formal message.”
Another time, when a hasty automatic writing was being delivered, the writing was slanting backwards, and I jokingly thought, “Don’t you know that writing with a backwards slant means such and such…” and Mr. Padgett wrote, “Don’t you know that when a soul becomes divine, the natural laws no longer apply.”
In the summer of 1975, I started receiving my automatic writing messages from Jesus of Nazareth. He wrote a series of messages about descriptions of spheres and planes in the Natural Heavens. I wasn’t in condition to receive high spiritual truths, but he always added that there is a higher realm which people can aspire to, the Celestial Kingdom, which can be attained only by receiving the Grace of God’s Divine Love into the soul through prolonged and sincere prayer.
We had returned to California in January 1975. My first grandchild was born on January 9, two months premature. I was 43 at that time. We had several followers in our spiritual family; most of our co-workers were able to channel automatic writings, which were used for personal growth and guidance, seeking answers to spiritual questions. We gathered for prayer every morning and evening (sometimes also at midday) and most evenings we would share in reading and discussion of Celestial messages from the True Gospel Revealed Anew by Jesus.
I’m afraid I’ve digressed from sticking to the subject of spirit/mortal communication, but I feel that sharing information we’ve learned from the Celestial spirits will be helpful for students interested in the subject.
Sometimes I would be asked to receive a written message for a new follower who was seeking guidance. I wasn’t always willing to do this because it isn’t easy to change negative patterns, it takes much courage to face faults and be willing to work on them or even to acknowledge that they exist. Spiritual progression is a lengthy process; it takes place all through our lifetime on earth and continues after we become spirits.
There are only two pathways of spiritual development (someone questioned this, bringing up the “evil spirit path” but, I do not consider that to be spiritual development!). One path is the purification of the natural love and the other is the transformation of the soul into the Divine Substance of God’s Soul—at-one with God in Love, born again into a divine soul.
The natural love is part of the soul at creation. We can defile it, encrust our souls with sin, but underneath it all, we’re still human beings with a natural loving soul which we can find if we want to, if we search and let our conscience be our guide, although it might have to be awakened first. This is the most difficult pathway. It seems like we’re trying to pick ourselves us by our own bootstraps, renouncing sin, doing good deeds, turning the other cheek, which, when not done in love, isn’t all that helpful to our soul development.
The divine pathway of spiritual development takes a different application of will—seeking God with our hearts. Only through humble, sincere and heartfelt longings, will the Divine Love find lodgment in our souls. Desire to do God’s Will in your life. Want to develop the highest potential of your soul. Pray for forgiveness and mercy. Pray for faith. Pray for God’s Great Gift of Divine Love to flow into your soul. The angels assure us that we won’t be disappointed, even though this Love will help drive out our negativities, and during this process of expiation, we might have unpleasant experiences.
This higher Love has the power to help remove encrustments from our souls. Our dear, patient and loving guardian angels continue to love us and work with us, in spite of our imperfections. We are so blessed! They encourage us to keep trying. They guide us oftentimes “around the mulberry bush,” since the direct route isn’t always possible, to reach our goals.
As we continue praying for more Love and striving to become more loving in our interchanges with our fellow human beings, we become better examples of God’s Love made manifest in our lives. And we become better mediums for channeling truthful messages from the angels.
“Change is the law eternal.” As we progress in Love, our souls develop into a higher condition, enabling us to receive higher truths. The angels tell us that so far, humankind has received only a smattering of the spiritual truths and laws that are waiting to be delivered, when our souls are developed to a condition where we can grasp, receive and understand this exalted information.
In the world today, there are many mediums or psychics who deal with mundane matters, because that is what their clients are interested in. And this level of information corresponds to the development and condition of their own souls.
In order to help people grow in love, first they have to be interested in wanting to grow, then we have to accept them right where they are, for they have to start from there. Turning seeking souls to God in prayer for His Great Gift of Divine Love is the highest and best guidance we can offer to help them progress spiritually. When God’s children commence their prayers for the Grace of His Love, they will attract a Celestial angel to be their guide.
One of the ways we can determine that it is our ministering angels who is guiding us, is that we feel peaceful, we feel loved. They make loving suggestions, never bossy orders. We’d be wise to follow their guidance, but they don’t become angry with us if we don’t. We only hurt ourselves and prolong our lack of fulfillment, if we fail to follow the loving pathway.
As souls receive more and more of God’s transforming Grace, they become more loving, patient, kind, understanding, and tolerant. They guide and protect us, as much as possible, from our less-than-loving choices. They remind us that God’s Love in never-ending; He is always waiting for us to come to Him in prayer, opening our souls to His Great Love and Mercy. None of our prayers goes unanswered by God. He hears every single one. We are surely blessed beyond measure.
Even though we are willing to help our brothers and sisters who are seeking guidance through our mediumship, sometimes we are reluctant to sit for a message. Everyone needs to learn to receive guidance for themselves. They only way a person can develop a close relationship with the Creator is to pray for His Divine Love, desire to be at-one with the Source of All Love, seek truth with soulful longings, be humble and repentant, sincere and devout.
Little by little, we come into closer harmony with God’s Will for us. Step by step, our love nature grows, expands and develops. Layer by layer, our negative encrustments are peeled away from our loving souls. One by one, our negative emotions are replaced with positive thoughts, desires and intentions. It’s a process, one which is worth every effort we need to make for it to become a reality in our lives.
I keep praying for God’s Divine Love and Mercy. I continue striving to become a more loving person and to be a better example of God’s Love made manifest in my daily living. I pray that I may become qualified to receive high spiritual truths and laws from Celestial spirits, if they wish to deliver these.
I’m not perfect. I might interject my own thoughts into a message I’m receiving from a guardian angel. Caution needs to be exercised. Challenge the spirits. If they are a follower of Jesus’ teachings and believe in the transforming Grace of God’s Divine Love to develop the Christ potential in our souls, their messages can be trusted. We might block certain information, if it goes against some long-standing conviction of our minds. Let your desire for the truth be stronger than your pride or need to prove that you are “right,” and you will succeed. You will progress and become born again in Love.
